Julia was a great lady - always interested in preserving the quality of life in the area. She was always willing to fight for the betterment of all. The lawsuit with the coal unloading facility is a great example. I will miss her greatly. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

I
have wonderful memories of Julia. They begin at the Alternative
High School in the early 80's. I taught there and Julia helped
out as a tutor. She had a wonderful way with the young people
there and her efforts made a difference in the lives of many.
Later she and my mom, Isabelle McCann, became friends. Julia
would often stop in to visit my mom at mom's M-28 cottage
as she was on her way to Deer Lake. They played bridge together
occasionally and often lunched together.
Julia
and I share the same birth date and "celebrated" together
on several occasions. One of my best memories was taking her
to the home on Deer Lake a few years ago with a birthday picnic
lunch. Dayton Hyde was there, though we hadn't expected to
run into him, and the three of us spent an hour together on
the porch. Julia and Dayton reminisced about childhood events
and I was enthralled.
Julia
was a special woman and I'm grateful for having known her.
Please accept my condolences on your loss. Jane Ryan, Marquette

Always DeeDee to me and my family....what a wonderful woman to have shared in our lives. She is a dear, dear friend of my mother, and grew up with her. I will always remember her wonderful smile and giggle as well as her strength in her convictions. She was always a gracious and warm hostess at her home and camp, and always had a twinkle in her eye. We will see you again one of these days, DeeDee. I won't be surprised to see you with Hai, my mom, when I get there. Bless you, DeeDee, in your new life. Peace and strength to your family still with us, who must miss you terribly right now, but you will forever be with us in our hearts and memories. We look forward to the time when our journey's will meet again. What a marvelous tool you were for the hands of God on this earth.

To "DD's" family - my mother Harriet Randall was a very good friend of your mother/grandmother. She and DD spent many, many happy hours together not only in their youth but into their senior years. They were best of friends growing up in Marquette. DD Koch and Hai Begole! What one of them didn't think of the other one did. Over the years we heard many stories. My mother died in 1995 and I really believe that she and DD are celebrating their new lives together. Marcia (Randall) Franz

I
met Julia several years ago at the Christian Science Church
in Marquette, where we became friends. We had some similar interests.
She was a very pleasant and interesting person, and also generous.
Julia treated my son, Zachary, and I to lunch after church many
times, and she also bought Zachary a brand new pair of hockey
skates, when he was a little boy. She was an inspiration to
me as she was doing so well and had such a good attitude, even
at her older age! My son, Zachary, and I will miss her. - by

Deepest
sympathy in the loss of Julia. She was such a sweet lady. My
mother & dad knew her thru the church. They were faithful members
there til the church closed. We really enjoyed visiting with
her when we went out to eat after church. She was a truly delightful
person. My name is Julie & I got to know her when my parents
were unable to drive & I used to drive them to church. Julia
& I went out for lunch a few times when I was working in Marquette.
I feel bad that we lost touch after the church closed but she
was never forgotten.

FROM JOANI: Growing up and as an adult, Dee Dee was my model.
Thank you, Dee Dee. FROM DON: She became a "Grand Old Dame",
but to me she will always be my "Den Mother." The Tibbits were
the only family I ever knew who had their own alligator. We
were fortunate to have had tea with her in Munising a few times
this past year and hear her say "Didn't we have fun? Nobody
had more fun than we did." Keep having fun Dee Dee; we miss
you!

We
were very saddened to hear of Julia's passing this week. She
was a truly inspirational force to all who knew her and particularly
to us. Her smile along with her demeanor and ability to converse
on a wide range of subjects, made a person feel right at home.
She treated everyone as if they were the most important person
in the world and that was truly a gift. We will always feel
her presence and will never forget her.
