Marquette––Errol G. Silverstone,
61, of Route 1, Box 393F, Negaunee (Suomi Location), entered
eternal life Friday afternoon, March 28, 2008, at Marquette
General Hospital, in the comforting love of his family.
Errol was born July 22, 1946, in Felch, a son of Walfred
and Lea (Jacobson) Silverstone. He was raised on the family
homestead, Mayflower Farm, and was a graduate of the Felch
High School, Class of 1964. Growing up on a farm, Errol
learned the value of hard work at an early age and those
qualities continued throughout his life. Even before graduating,
he had already earned state certification as a welder and,
as a young man, worked extra hard to attain his goals, whether
they be owning a car, boat, or saving for the future. Errol
served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. On January
30, 1971, he married the former Judy Johnson in Foster City.
For over 36 years, Errol was employed as a millwright, working
out of Local #1510, traveling to jobs in Wisconsin, Minnesota,
and locally. He retired in 1990 due to disability. An avid
outdoorsman who enjoyed all that nature had to offer, Errol
loved being in the woods and deer hunting was a passion.
He was also especially proud to be the owner and operator
of a Kubota and all they could do together.
A loving husband, father, and proud grandfather, he is survived
by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Nancy and her husband,
Mark Micallef of Munising; his son, John and wife, Shari,
and their children, Heidi and Melodi Silverstone of Suomi
Location; his mother, Lea Silverstone of Munising; sister,
Charlene (Charles) Uridil of Paw Paw; aunt and uncle, Hazel
and John Yourzak of Iron Mountain; special friend, Norman
Abrahamson of Gwinn; and several nieces and nephews. Errol
was preceded in death by his father, Walfred; and a brother,
Bruce.
Honoring Errol’s request, no services will be scheduled
at this time. A family celebration of Errol’s life
will take place this summer at the convenience of the family.
The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family, where
condolences may be expressed online at www.fassbenderfuneralhome.com
Errol’s granddaughter, Heidi, has written the following
tribute to her grandfather:
The Beauty of Life
A miracle, worth so much
Naturally simple
Overlooked by so many eyes
The beauty of life.
Always there, even if we aren’t looking
Calm, fierce, and serene all at once
A place we can call home
The beauty of life
Ruthless in its time
Amazing in itself
Never fully understood
The beauty of life
