Marquette––Alan Dale Peterson
“Uncle Al”, 47, of 907 Lee Street, Marquette,
entered eternal life Sunday evening, March 30, 2008, at
Marquette General Hospital.
Al was born September 5, 1960 in Waukegan, Illinois, a son
of Roy M. and Jean L. (Ilves) Peterson. During his early
years, he resided in Waukegan, Arizona, and Marquette, spending
his high school years at Marquette Senior High. He worked
for a time as a baker at the Marquette Bakery and in the
construction industry before moving to Minnesota where he
was employed with IBM Computer for four years. Al returned
to Marquette where he worked at Marie’s Restaurant
as a cook and at UP Front and Company in construction and
maintenance. Al was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying
Chicago Bears football and Chicago Cubs baseball. Locally,
he greatly enjoyed following the sporting activities of
his two cherished nephews, Jared and Brandon Smith, with
whom he shared a special bond. Al was an accomplished cook
and baker who often cooked for his mother and baked Amish
Friendship Bread with his sister, Marie. He liked to play
boards games like Yahtzee, chess, and cribbage, as long
as he could challenge and be challenged by his friends.
He enjoyed fishing with good friends, Max Anderson and Steve
Pascoe, also, hanging out with good friends, Ray Rivord,
Kelly Pabst, Diane Davis, and many more. His love of cooking
and fellowship made him good company and a good friend.
Al is survived by his mother, Jean Peterson of Marquette;
two sisters, Sharon Docter of Washington and Marie (Mark)
Smith of Marquette; two brothers, Roy (Patti Brown) Peterson
of Harvey and Charles (Tena Kibbey) Peterson of Everett,
WA; his two nephews, Brandon and Jared Smith; and his faithful
canine companion, Zero. Al was preceded in death by his
father, Roy.
