Harvey––Gordice L. Bigger,
age 69, of 309 Little Lake Road, Harvey, entered eternal
life Friday evening, January 11, 2008, at home, in the comforting
care of her family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Gordice was born August 11, 1938, in Marquette, a daughter
of Lee and Bernice (Jensen) Tolman, and was a lifelong Marquette
resident. A graduate of the Graveraet High School, she was
later employed as a cook at Marquette General Hospital,
retiring in 2003 after over 25 years of service to the hospital
and its patients. Gordice’s family was her life and
she enjoyed preparing holiday dinners and summer backyard
barbeques for family and friends. Her other interests included
a love of blueberry picking, sharing time with hospital
friends and family, and playing the slots at the casino.
She was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in
Harvey.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Bigger; four daughters,
Joanne Dionne of Marquette, Jayne (Steve Ball) Bigger, Peggy
(Steve) Winters, and Julie (Melvin) Winters all of Skandia;
a son, Paul Bigger of Marquette; her grandchildren, Nichole
(Michael) Peterson, Sandra Sylvester, Jessica Bigger, Paula
Winters, Amanda Strehlow, Kym Bigger, Maria Typhoon, Leander
Madosh, Kenneth Winters, Joseph Winters, and Adam Winters;
eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brittany, and Brianna
Nault, Ashley Sylvester, Trinity Kerstetter, Lauryn and
Steven Horne, and Brent Strehlow; three sisters, Cora (Fran)
LeMieux of Gwinn, Rose Bowns of Rapid River, Evelyn Tolman
of California; a brother, Gary (Karen) Tolman of Midland;
and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her
parents, Gordice was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen;
two sisters, Shirley and Barbara; and two brothers, Gordon
and Steven.
Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in
Harvey on Tuesday, January 15, from 11:00 am until 1:00
pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00
pm Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Ben Paris, pastor, as celebrant.

the King Catholic Church, 264 Silver Creek Road, Marquette,
