Gwinn––Maida Maurine Saul,
61, of 3010 W. Pike Lake Lane, Gwinn, and former Marquette
resident, entered eternal life Wednesday morning, December
26, 2007, at home, in the care and comfort of her family
and the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Maida was born August 15, 1946 in Escanaba, a daughter of
Vilho and Anice (Jenkins) Tulla. She was raised in Rock
and attended the Rock School. On December 3, 1964, she married
Kenneth H. Saul at the Harvey Baptist Church, and the couple
established their home in Marquette. Maida was employed
at the Pasty Shop and later did housekeeping at the Garden
Room, K. I. Sawyer AFB, the Marquette Courthouse, and the
Imperial Motel. She retired in 1998. Maida was a member
of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed working puzzles,
gardening, especially rose gardening, baking, playing BINGO,
and serving her family and friends.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
sister, she is survived by her husband, Kenneth H. Saul;
a daughter, Apryle (Terry) Black of Gwinn; son, Kenneth
L. Saul of Marquette; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren;
a sister, Dorothy (Steven) Nelson of Gladstone; brother,
Marvin (Diane) Tulla of Dixon, MO; a step-brother, Howard
(Bunny) Tulla of Marquette; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Maida was preceded in death
by a son-in-law, James M. Robinson, Jr. and a daughter-in-law,
Karen Saul.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday,
December 28, beginning at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will
follow at 6:00 pm Friday evening with Rev. Chuck Tooman
officiating. Burial will be made in the Northland Chapel
Gardens. Honorary escorts will be Maida’s grandsons,
James III, Michael, and Zachari Robinson, Kevin Mays, and
Edward Chapman.
