My
mom worked for John when we lived in St. Ignace and she's alway
spoken very highly of him and Edra. She's talked about how Edra
visited her in the hospital after my youngest brother was born
and Edra teased her about "having a good start." When I had
my first child in Marquette, Edra came to the hospital and pretended
to be my grandma so that she could visit. I'll alway remember
her act of kindness in thinking of me then. My deepest sympathies
to her family.

I'm
so sorry I wasn't with all of you at Grandma's funeral. I've
been thinking of her often and remembering mostly our wonderful
Christmas visits in Marquette. On Christmas morning Kevin, the
kids, and I ate "sticky buns" in Grandma's honor. I have so
many fond memories; she was such a loving and attentive Grandmother.
I think my favorite memories are of all of us sitting around
the dining room table listening to stories and playing cards;
the room filled with laughter. I only hope that I do her justice
when I tell my children about her. Love you all!

Steve, I was sorry to hear about the death of your mother. She was a wonderful lady. She always treated Marilyn, Margaret and me so nicely when we'd pick you up to go on an adventure. I came back from Margaret's, on Friday, so I missed the funeral. If the Spring memorial service is for friends, I will be there. Love to both Craig and you.

Dear Joan and family,
When I saw your mother's obituary in the Green Bay newspaper today I was filled with fond memories of her graciousness when I visited your home. There was always room for one more at the dining room table and wonderful food. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

Melissa, Makayla and I send our deepest sympathy to the entire LaHaie family. I had the honor of being part of this loving family for many years and saw first hand the wonderful influence Edra had on all her children. I have many cherished memories of Edra at family events throughout the years and always admired her calm, loving, compassionate soul. May she rest in peace and may God fill all your hearts with joy as she reunites with John, her beloved husband.

Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers as you commemorate your mom's life. I am great memories of hanging around your house as a kid playing cards (while Joan beat me up for winning at One Less!) and engaging in the banter that always went on. I remember being impressed the first time I saw your mom's check-in list at the back door, which gave me a glimpse of what it must have been like to keep track of you all. I have always thought of you as a special family and your mom as one strong lady. I have come to learn that although my mom died three years ago, I feel her impact in my life in ways small and significant on a daily basis. I hope your memories give you much comfort.
Fondly, Becky Beauchamp (Sue's friend)

Speaking
as one who sat at John and Edra's dinner table many times,
and through many helpings, I might add, there was nothing
like Lahaie hospitality. You never left that house on top
of the Fourth Street hill with an empty stomach. Your mother
was an exemplary Christian and the proper and dignified matriarch
of your wonderful family. You continue to share your parents'
spirit in your own homes where I have also been invited.
Long
may she live in our hearts.
