Marquette––-Edith Rivord,
90, entered eternal life Saturday morning, November 10,
2007, at the Norlite Nursing Center where she had been living
for the past three years.
She was born on December 17, 1916 in Big Bay to John and
Ella (McNally) Philips. Edith married Edward Rivord and
the couple set about establishing their home and raising
a family in Marquette. She was a wonderful homemaker and
cook always known for her clean home even with the challenge
of raising nine children. She loved watching Bob Barker
on the Price is Right, and enjoyed spending many weekends
at hunting camp in Newberry with her dear friends Marcella
& Roland Ford. In her later years, Edith loved playing
and beating her son Ray at cribbage.
Surviving are her three daughters, Nancy Kiertzner of Gwinn,
Mary (Duane) Kovacich of Marquette, and Paula (Pete) Cherrette
of Gwinn; three sons, Ray Rivord of Marquette, David (Gloria)
Rivord of Flint, MI, and Dennis (Julie) Rivord of Champion;
and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Rivord;
three sons, John, Ron, and Eldon Rivord; and her grandson,
Scott Allan Kovacich.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home from 12:30
pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday November 13, 2007. Funeral services
will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday in the funeral home with
Rev. Ben Paris officiating. Burial will be in Northland
Chapel Garden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed
to Norlite Nursing Home Activities Fund or Lake Superior
Hospice.
