Marquette––– Louise
Mary Smith, 74, of 734 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, and
former Deerton resident, entered eternal life Saturday morning,
August 11, 2007, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.
Born April 17, 1933, in Munising, a daughter of Medause
and Mary (Miron) Langevin, Louise was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed as a cook at the former St. Mary’s
Hospital for 16 years and then worked for the City of Marquette
Parks and Recreation Department for 12 years, retiring in
1978. In her leisure, Louise was an avid Detroit Red Wings
fan, enjoyed reading and occasional visits to the casino.
She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral and the Richard
Jopling Unit #44 American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, Robert J. (Sandy) Smith of Kingsford;
a daughter, Barbara (Mark) Glasson of Holly; step-daughters,
Beverly and Patricia; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
two brothers, George (Diane) Langevin of Marquette and Charles
(Annette) Langevin of Davison; half-brother, Peter (Kathy)
Syers of Shingleton; brother-in-law, Robert Flink of Marquette;
several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents,
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, William Ervin
Smith; her sisters, Mary Flink and Margaret Knoll; and a
brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Jean Langevin.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Tuesday,
August 14, beginning at 10:00 am. American Legion Auxiliary
Unit #44 will conduct their memorial ritual at 11:45 am
followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon Tuesday, in
the funeral home, with Rev. Msgr. Louis Cappo officiating.
Inurnment will be made in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising
at 2:30 pm Tuesday afternoon.
