McFarland––Ida M. “Bubbles”
Peterson, 81, of McFarland, entered eternal life Sunday
evening, July 22, 2007, at the Christian Park Health Care
Center in Escanaba.
Bubbles was born May 25, 1926, in Munising, a daughter of
Walter and Ida (Perry) Livermore, Sr. She was raised in
Munising and was a graduate of the William G. Mather High
School. On August 26, 1944 she married Lloyd A Peterson
at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette and together the couple
established their home and raised their family in Marquette’s
Trowbridge Park area. Throughout the years, Bubbles was
employed as a secretary with Brebner Machine, Boy Scouts
of America, and the Don Lucas Volkswagen dealership. Bubbles
and Lloyd moved to McFarland in 1964, and for 19 years Bubbles
was a clerk at Hansen’s Store in Rock. She enjoyed
knitting for family and friends, and often made mittens
for the local school, St. Vincent dePaul Society, and for
the Rock Senior Center. She was actively involved at the
Senior Center, often taking part in the Wednesday activities,
knitting, and doing ceramics. Bubbles was a member of St.
Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Jack) Coyne of
Gwinn, Judy (Bob) Johnston of McFarland, and Kelly (Tim)
DeVooght of Skandia; a son, Lloyd “Bucky” (Carla)
Peterson of Manistique; her grandchildren, Chris (Jodi)
Peterson, Danielle (Jim) Ranta, Karen Alexander, Randy (Melissa)
Coyne, Dave Coyne, Nicole (Phillip) Lancour, Jennifer Johnston,
Jesse Peterson, Craig and Casey DeVooght; great-grandchildren,
Nathan, Victoria, Bryce, Tiffany, Harlee, Darby, Samantha,
Mitchell, Wyatt, and Allyson; her sisters, Dorothy Lancour
of Skandia, Sarah (Leslie) Pelto of Big Bay, and Sally (Jerry)
Johnson of Marquette; several nieces and nephews. In addition
to her parents, Bubbles was preceded in death by her husband,
Lloyd, in 2001; a sister, Betty R. Livermore; brother, Walter
“Sonny” Livermore; brother-in-law, Harvey Lancour;
and a nephew, Harvey “Butch” Lancour.
Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in
Harvey on Wednesday, July 25, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass
of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 pm Wednesday afternoon
with Rev. Ben Paris as celebrant. A reception for family
and friends will be held in Fr. Gauthier Hall. Graveside
services will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday afternoon at
the Hillview Cemetery in McFarland. Pallbearers will be
Glenn and Art Peterson, Harold Loveless, Lenny Garrow, Phil
Lancour, and Terry Kanerva.
