Marquette––Herbert John Smith,
94, formerly of 200 Karen Road, Harvey, entered eternal
life Saturday morning, July 22, 2007, at the D.J. Jacobetti
Home for Veterans.
Herb was born June 3, 1913 in Glidden, Wisconsin, a son
of John and Mary (Vogt) Smith. He was raised in Glidden
and graduated from high school there. Herb served in the
US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged
in 1946 with the rank of corporal. For many years, prior
to retirement, Herb was employed as a supervisor with AT&T.
For the past several years, Herb resided in the Harvey area.
Herb is survived by a daughter, Phyllis (Geoffrey) Martineau
of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Lisa Mackie of Chicago,
IL, Amy (Travis) Vermillion of Charlotte, NC, and Geoffrey
(Susan) Martineau of Washington, DC; five great-grandchildren,
Joseph, James, Molly, Annie, and Geoffrey; his friend and
caregiver, Vivian Malette of Harvey and her children, Karen
(Dennie) Hayes of Marquette, and Frank (Patty) Malette of
Harvey; and friends, Dorothy and Bernie Peterhansel of Glidden,
WI.
Burial will be made in the Mt Hope Cemetery in Glidden,
Wisconsin, on Monday, July 30, at 2:00 pm.
