Marquette–– Everett Frank
Braatz, 83, a resident of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans,
Marquette, and former Munising resident, entered eternal
life Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for
Veterans.
Everett was born November 1, 1923, in Munising, a son of
the late Henry Frank Braatz and Berdina (Hawkins) Braatz
Boogren. He was a decorated war veteran, proudly serving
in the US Air Force during World War II as a special vehicle
operator in the Western Pacific. On March 16, 1946, he married
Edith Leora Trombley in Munising. She preceded him in death
on May 21, 2000. In 1985, Everett retired as a logging foreman
from the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company. Everett enjoyed
singing, and playing his guitar and harmonica for family
and friends, fishing, hunting, gardening, shooting pool,
and tending to the plants in the greenhouse at the D. J.
Jacobetti Veterans Home.
Survivors include six daughters, Judith (David) Wilmot of
Plymouth, WI, Janice Verdeyen of Macomb, Victoria (John)
Rich of Greenbush, WI, Muriel "Evie" (Jesse) Frausto
of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Dorothy "D.A" (John) Selak
of Plymouth, WI, Edith "Cissy" L. Ranta of Sheboygan;
and a son, Steven (Jennifer) Braatz of AuTrain; 13 grandchildren;
25 great-grandchildren; his sister, Audrey (Paul) Dolaskie
of Munising; his brother, Howard "Butch" Olmsted
of Sheboygan Falls, WI; five sisters-in-law, Millie Dunn,
Carol Bejarno, and Muriel Binns all of Munising, Cora (William)
Karrick Jr of Cameron, TX, Kay (Jimmy) Bardo of Coffeeville,
MS; two brothers-in-law, Loyst Trombley of Wetmore and Jerry
Trombley of Negaunee; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and friends. Also preceding Everett in death were his parents;
step-father, Russell Boogren; three sisters, Margaret (John)
Felosak, Edna Soulliere, and Marion (Ed) Oas; and three
brothers, Harvey J. Braatz, Lloyd F. Braatz, and Ernest
J. Braatz.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the D.
J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans on Saturday, August 4, at
11:00 am.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the
doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at the Jacobetti
Home for the excellent care, and many kindnesses, extended
to Everett and his family.
The family requests donations be given in Everett's name
to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, Patient Activity
Fund, 425 Fisher Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
