Marquette––-Richard D. Fraley,
73, of Marquette, and former Big Bay resident, peacefully
entered eternal life Saturday evening, June 23, 2007, at
Marquette General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born October 7, 1933, in Newberry, a son of
Dewey and Dorothy (Williams) Fraley, and spent most of his
life in the Big Bay area. He was employed in the logging
industry, for many years, working throughout the Upper Peninsula.
An avid Detroit Red Wings fan, he also liked to hunt and
fish. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and passed on
many of his sporting skills to them.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, June M. (Roach)
Fraley, whom he married August 6, 1954; his children, Douglas
Fraley, Timothy Fraley, Pamela (Chad) Hightshoe, Sandra
Kleaver, Kimberly (George) DenHerder, Karen (Eric) Chytka,
and Dorothy (Mark Bighia) Fraley; twenty-one grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; and
many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard
was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. Fraley on December
22, 2005; two sisters; and two brothers.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Tuesday,
June 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Service of Remembrance,
honoring both Richard and his son, Richard, who died in
2005, will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 pm Tuesday
evening with Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital
chaplain, officiating.
