Marquette––Betty L. Swenor,
64, of 1819 Presque Isle Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal
life Tuesday morning, June 5, 2007, at her home, in the
loving and comforting care of her family and the caregivers
of Lake Superior Hospice.
Betty was born September 17, 1942, in Marquette, a daughter
of Thomas C. and Rose M. (DePetro) Richardson, and was a
lifelong Marquette resident. On November 22, 1958, she married
James G. Swenor at St. Michael Catholic Church, and together
the couple established their home and raised their family
in Marquette. For over thirty years, Betty was employed
at Marquette General Hospital, retiring in 2004. Betty was
very family oriented and enjoyed every aspect of her children
and grandchildren’s lives. She was a member of St.
Michael Catholic Church.
A loving wife, mother, grandparent, daughter, and sister,
she is survived by her husband, Jim; two daughters, Susan
(David) Campbell and Lisa (Shawn) Hennings both of Marquette;
two sons, Jim Swenor of Green Bay, WI and Thomas Swenor
of Ishpeming; her grandchildren, Aaron, Jesse, Allan, Tyler,
Branden, Brianna, Mackenzie, and Anna; her mother, Rose
M. Richardson of Marquette; and a brother, Tim (Peg Housner)
Richardson of Novi; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was
preceded in death by her father.
Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Saturday,
June 9, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Saturday afternoon in the
church with Rev. Msgr. Jed Patrick, pastor, as celebrant.
Honorary escorts will be Susan Lemire, Clara Feltner, and
Judy Stowe. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
A reception for family and friends will be held in the St.
Michael Parish Center.
