Marquette–– Lena H. Leckwart, 84, of 416 Radisson Drive, Marquette, and former New Castle, Pennsylvania, resident, entered eternal life Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2007, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.
Born February 21, 1923, in New Castle, PA, a daughter of Rosario and Antonietta (DeStefano) Vanasco, Lena was raised in New Castle and was a 1941 graduate of the New Castle High School. On February 22, 1944, she married Frank A. Leckwart and together the couple established their home in New Castle. For over forty years, Lena was employed with the Shenango China Corporation, retiring in 1987 as a foreman.
Survivors include her son, Frank Joseph (Suzanne) Leckwart of Marquette; her grandchildren, Frank (Medea) Leckwart of Ithaca, NY, Jon (Tracey) Leckwart of Phoenix, AZ, and Renee (David) Guinn of Marquette; great-grandchildren, Suzanna Guinn and Elizabeth Guinn both of Marquette, Christina Leckwart, Erika Leckwart, and Dawn Morse of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Mary Damiano of Tigard, OR; her brothers, Joe (Faye) Vanasco and Bart (Flo) Vanasco both of New Castle, PA, and Ross Vanasco of Surprise, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, Frank and Michael Vanasco.
Private family services will be held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, Wilmington Road Chapel, in New Castle, with entombment at Castle View Memorial Gardens in New Castle.
