Ishpeming––Glenn A. “Bud” Hansen, 73, of 820 Maurice Street, Ishpeming, entered eternal life Sunday morning, April 22, 2007, at his home in the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.
Bud was born July 26, 1933, in Marinette, WI, a son of Anker and Leona (Zander) Hansen. He was raised in Marinette and was a graduate of Marinette High School class of 1951. On October 14, 1952, Bud married the former Barbara Sindler and the couple set about establishing their home and raising a family. After graduation Bud began his career as grocery store manager with the A&P Company working for 25 years and one day. Following his service with the A&P Company, Bud and his son, Steve, owned and operated Hansen’s Foods, Inc., in Marquette. Bud continued his working career as manager of Jilbert’s Dairy finally retiring in 2001.
Bud was a member of Wawonowin Country Club and the Ishpeming Chamber of Commerce where he served as director of the retail division. Win or lose, Bud was an avid Detroit Red Wing and Packer fan. In his spare time Bud enjoyed woodworking, building, gardening and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara, of 54 years; his daughter, Kathy (Dean) Kari, of Dollar Bay; his son, Steve (Dona) Hansen, of Gwinn; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Kimber) Hansen, of Marquette, Rebecca (John) Schutz, of Painesdale, Michael (Jonelle) Hansen, of Ishpeming, Nicholas (April) Stevens, of Tamarack, and Brent Kari, of Dollar Bay; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Johnny Schutz, of Painesdale; one brother, Bob (Pat) Hansen, of Howard, WI; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron (Sharon) Worm, of Markesan, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Walk.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, beginning at 4:00 pm. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 7:00pm Tuesday evening with Rev. Leon Jarvis officiating. Bud’s grandchildren will act as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
