Marquette––Florence K. “Bebe”
Bradbury, 84, of 179-B Yalmer Road, Skandia, and former
Marquette resident, entered eternal life Friday afternoon,
April 13, 2007, at Marquette General Hospital.
Bebe was born April 21, 1922 in Detroit, a daughter of the
late Clarence and Kate (Smith) Frye, and was raised in Detroit
and Kokomo, Indiana, graduating from the Kokomo High School
in 1942. On August 2, 1942 she married Norman A. Bradbury
in Indianapolis, IN, and Bebe resided in Kokomo for a few
years while her husband served in the military during World
War II. Following his tour of duty, Norman returned to Kokomo
where the couple resided for 10 years before making a decision
to relocate to the Upper Peninsula. They lived in the Baraga
State Park for a time, moving to more permanent quarters
in L’Anse as winter approached. Norman worked at the
prison and later at the Humbolt and Republic mines. In 1963
the family moved to Marquette where Bebe was employed as
a waitress at the Holiday Inn for many years. Bebe was a
member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the VFW Auxiliary
in Ishpeming, the Richard Jopling Post #44 American Legion
Auxiliary,Marquette, and American Legion Auxiliary Post
#349, Little Lake. She enjoyed playing cards, watching television,
especially sports and old movies, enjoyed swimming, and
was an avid Green Bay Packer backer.
A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she is survived
by: four sons, Norman A. Bradbury of Skandia, David P. Bradbury
and Richard S. Bradbury both of Little Lake, and John A.
Bradbury of Ishpeming; her grandchildren, Kitty, Bud, Matt,
Jason, Jared, Julie, Travis, Ashley, Katie, Jesse, Daniel,
Christina, and Michael; and several great-grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents,
Bebe was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Bradbury,
Sr in 1985.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender
Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.
