Marquette––Sandra Jean “Pudgie”
Whitcomb, 67, of 685 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, entered
eternal life Monday afternoon, March 5, 2007, at Marquette
General Hospital, where she had been hospitalized since
February 23.
Sandra was born July 25, 1939, in Marquette, a daughter
of Harold W. and Barbara A. (White) Specker, and was a lifelong
Marquette resident. On September 5, 1977, she married Marvin
Whitcomb and he preceded her in death in 1994. Sandra was
employed for eight years at Wahlstrom’s Restaurant
and later at the Parkway Motel. Most recently, she had been
employed at Shopko for nine years, and retired in 2005.
Sandra’s favorite time of the year was vacationing
each summer at Sandy Pines Resort, near Lansing, with her
mother, brothers, and sisters. Her favorite past time was
working to get the best suntan possible, in competition
with her best friend, sister, Gail. Together, the pair spent
countless hours soaking up the sun, each trying to outdo
the other by becoming the most “golden brown.”
Sandra loved being with family and friends. Her greatest
joy was loving and serving the Lord, and she put her full
faith and trust in Him. She was a member of the Lake Superior
Christian Church where she served as a greeter and in the
church’s information center. She also enjoyed attending
the Women’s Bible Studies.
A loving and devoted mother, proud grandmother, daughter,
and sister, Sandra is survived by four daughters, Kelly
(Ralph) Margerum of Englewood, FL, Jennifer (William) Burdick
of Harvey, Sheila Kubond of Marquette, and Tammy (Russ Disch)
Whitcomb of Gwinn; two sons, Brian (Wendy) Kubond of Huntington
Beach, CA and Robert Kubond of Englewood, FL; her grandchildren,
Jason, Nicole, Brett, Bryce, Christopher, Derek, Robert
Scott, and Ashley Kubond, Jacob, Andrea, Robert, Jesse,

Jordan VanBuren; great-grandchildren, Zachary Duff, Tyler
Hammond, Niveaya and Mikila Melendez, Nikoli Burgess, Kaytlynn
Ingrim, and Nikolas Messer; her mother, Barbara A. Specker
of Marquette; two sisters, Gail (Jim) McClelland and Liz
(Mike) Fletcher both of Marquette; three brothers, Ron Specker
of Green Bay, WI, Terry (Connie) Specker of Lansing, and
Jack Specker of Negaunee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, and cousins. Sandra was preceded in death by her
father, Harold Specker; husband, Marvin Whitcomb; granddaughter,
Linnea Burdick; brother, Robert Specker; sisters-in-law,
Chic and Dot Specker; and an uncle, Frank White.
Friends may call at the Lake Superior Christian Church on
Thursday, March 8, beginning at 1:00 pm. Funeral services
will follow at 4:00 pm Thursday afternoon with Greg Rhodea,
associate minister, officiating. A reception for family
and friends will be held in the church fellowship hall.
Burial will be made in the Northland Chapel Gardens.
