Marquette–– Anne M. Huron,
96, of 1718 Tracy Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life
Friday evening, February 2, 2007, at the Norlite Nursing
Center.
Born November 20, 1910, in Marquette, a daughter of Samuel
and Sarah (Marksman) Gauthier, Anne was a lifelong Marquette
area resident. On August 20, 1934, she married Joseph M.
Huron in Marquette and together the couple made their home
and raised their family in Marquette. Anne was employed
for over eleven years in housekeeping at Northern Michigan
University prior to her retirement. She was a member of
St. Michael Catholic Church, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community,
Kateri Tekakwitha Circle, and the American Association of
Retired Persons.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Jean Johns of
Marquette; a son, Joseph “Jerry” (Sandy) Huron
of Marquette; her grandchildren, Susan Burdick, Amy Johns,
Joseph Huron, Thomas Huron, Cindy (Thomas) Mathews, and
Karleen Holm; great-grandchildren, Ashley Johns, Michael
Ferguson III, Matthew Huron, Jesse Gensheimer, Dylan Gensheimer,
Drake Mathews, Luke Huron, Cooper Mathews, and Ryder Mathews;
great-great grandchildren, Tina Morris, Shannon, Terry,
Sheila, and Todd Holm; and many nieces and nephews, among
them a special niece, Elizabeth “Betty” (Charles)
Shirtz of Harvey. Anne was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Joseph Huron in 1969; a daughter, JoeAnn Patricia
Hall in 1961; a grandson, Samuel Wesley Hall; a sister,
Elizabeth Bingham; and brothers, Wilfred, George, John,
James, Louis, and Charles “Smokey” Gauthier.
Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Tuesday,
February 6, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial
will follow at 1:00 pm Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Thomas
Schmied, OFM Cap as celebrant. Burial will be made in the
Holy Cross Cemetery.
