Marquette–– Robert Logan Riker,
84, of 326 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, entered eternal
life early Monday morning, January 29, 2007, at Marquette
General Hospital where he had been a patient
Robert was born October 9, 1922, in Montgomery, Indiana,
the son of Avilo and Lucille (Harbison) Riker. On April
11, 1942, Robert married the former Frances Pauline Warfield.
One year later, in 1943 Robert enlisted in the United States
Army where he spent two years in Guam while serving his
country during WWII and the Pacific Campaign. While serving
his country Robert was one of the first men trained for
the use of radar. After service to his country, Robert and
Frances moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where they set about
establishing their home and raising a family. Upon retirement
the couple moved to Marquette where they have resided for
the last eight years. Robert will be missed most for his
kindness, contagious smile, being soft spoken and for never
having an unkind word to say about anyone.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frances Pauline
Riker, of Marquette; his daughter, Suzanne (Stephen) Standerford,
of Marquette; four grandchildren, Wendy (Jeff) Campbell,
of Lansing, MI, Greg (Lori) Riker, of Kokomo, IN, Chris
(Abby) Standerford, of Ishpeming, and Craig (Melissa) Riker,
of Indianapolis, IN; three great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Doris (Darrell) Sutton, of Springfield, AL. He was
preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one son,
Robert Logan Riker, Jr.; and one grandson, Don Riker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31,
2007, at 3:00pm in the Fassbender Funeral Home with Rev.
Leon Jarvis officiating. Visitation will be held in the
funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00pm until time of services.
Burial will be in the Park Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers
memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart
Association.
