Rumely––Lee G. Stuer, 82,
of N5220 Stuer Road, Rumely, entered eternal life Saturday
morning, January 6, 2007, at his home.
Born February 20, 1924 in Marquette, a son of Frank and
Dorothy (McCauley) Stuer, Lee grew up on the family farm
in Rumely, and was a 1942 graduate of the Eben High School.
A World War II veteran, he served in the US Army Air Corps
from 1943 to 1945 and was honorably discharged with the
rank of corporal. He returned to work on the family farm
and, in 1952, married Helen Jarvis at St. Peter Cathedral
in Marquette. In addition to his farming activities, Lee
was also employed with the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad
at the Marquette ore dock for 24 years, retiring in 1974.
In retirement, he enjoyed working at the farm, hunting,
and the companionship of his dogs, Belle, Queen, and Kael.
Lee was also a pilot and often enjoyed flying with his friends
out of the former Marquette County Airport. Lee and Helen
never had any children of their own, and both maintained
an untiring interest in their nieces, nephews, and their
families.
Lee is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by
his wife, Helen, in 1977; two sisters and their husbands,
Audrey and Hector Boogren and Jeanette and Leo Virta; a
brother and his wife, Frank and Bertha Stuer; and a niece,
Dorothy Beilke.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender
Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, beginning at 4:00 pm.
A Service of Remembrance will follow at 6:00 pm Tuesday
evening, in the funeral home, with Mark Murphy and Pastor
Chris Kostelansky officiating. Inurnment will be made in
the Park Cemetery.
