Gwinn–– George Edward Stanis,
54, of 505 Stratocruiser, Gwinn, entered eternal life Tuesday,
January 16, 2007, at his home.
Born October 3, 1952 in Grosse Pointe Farms, a son of Alexander
and Elizabeth (Nichter) Stanis, George was raised in Redford
and was a graduate of the Thurston High School. He served
in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era and returned
to Redford following his honorable discharge. He had been
a Marquette area resident for the past eight years. George
enjoyed camping, fishing, conversing with friends, and caring
for his canine companion, Zorro.
Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Stanis of Venice,
FL; three sisters, Mary (Paul) Manhart of Pinckney, Helen
(Anthony) Palermo of Port Charlotte, FL, and Eileen (Cary)
Planck of Redford; his brother, Alexander Stanis of Milan;
and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his father; and a brother,
William Stanis.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 22,
at 10:30 am, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton.
Inurnment will be made in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
