Marquette–– – David
Joseph Clement, 60, of 2887 Twelve Oaks, Charlotte, entered
eternal life early Monday morning, January 15, 2007, at
his home.
David was born November 14, 1946 in Marquette, a son of
Adlord and Bernice (Jolin) Clement, was raised in Marquette,
and was a graduate of the Graveraet High School. He served
in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, being stationed in
Korea. Following his honorable military discharge, David
returned to Marquette where he was employed in the maintenance
department at Northern Michigan University. He later moved
to Texas where he opened and operated his own business,
Brazos Valley Maintenance Masters, until 1986 when he became
disabled. He moved back to Marquette where he resided from
1987 to 1990. He returned to Bryan, Texas, residing there
until 2001 when he moved to the Lansing area. In his leisure,
David greatly enjoyed being with his grandchildren, camping,
coin collecting, and adding to his vast collection of eagles.
David was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Grand
Ledge and the Charlotte VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle K. (Dixon) Clement, whom
he married July 14, 1990 at St. Christopher Catholic Church
in Marquette; three daughters, Tina (Zane) Mackenzie of
Houghton, Wendy Wager of Marquette, and Karyn (Trent) Upchurch
of Bedias, TX; a son, Scott (Vivian) Goodreau of Negaunee;
eleven grandchildren; his mother, Bernice Clement of Marquette;
a sister, Kathy Goodreau of Marquette; and brothers, Richard
(Cathy) Clement and Michael Clement both of Marquette; his
mother-in-law, Nancy Dixon of Kalamazoo; brother-in-law,
Brian Dixon of Comstock; several nieces and nephews; and
close friends, Mark & Sue Henry of Lansing and Ron Goodreau
of Marquette. David was preceded in death by his father,
Adlord Clement; step-father, Alex Balwinski; father-in-law,
Heydon Dixon; son-in-law, Dennis Wager; and nephew, John
Clement.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Thursday
from 4:00 to 8:00 pm where a parish prayer service will
be held at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Friday, January 19,
at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jeff Johnson as celebrant. Escorts
will be Brian Dixon, Zane Mackenzie, Trent Upchurch, Dan
Clement, Ron Goodreau, and Mark Henry. A reception for family
and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Inurnment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
