My mother and I were saddened to hear about Sy's passing. My mother, Connie, knew her through church and I work as the rectory housekeeper at St. Peter's. I only met her a few times, but I remember how she took the time to talk to me - I was new to the job and it really made a difference to me. She also brought the most delicious desserts from Gopher's to the staff get-togethers!
She volunteered at my sister Barb's American Heart Association office and was always spoken of very highly by my sister. Oddly enough, my sister passed in an accident a few days before Sy, so we understand your loss.
We will miss Sy's kindess,God Bless your family.
Sincerely,
.

We are very sorry to hear of Sy's passing and would like to express our deepest sympathies to you all. Your mother was a wonderful person who always made us feel welcome at the Barsch house many years ago. In later years, she would always take time to talk and ask how our family was doing whenever we would see her. May the faith in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bring comfort to your family during this difficult time and during the Christmas season.

Please accept our condolences on the loss of your mother. Sy will be greatly missed by many in our community and we feel truly luck to have worked with her. The Marquette Symphony Orchestra benefited by having her as a member for many years, and Sy was always willing to help with whatever task lay ahead. She had so many ideas to help generate donations, something which shows her own generous spirit. Sy was always optimistic and passed that on to the rest of us. Our community will not be the same without her tireless efforts to improve the lives of others through charity and culture. Our lives will not be the same without Sy.

I
am so sorry about the passing of your mom. What an amazing woman
she was. I have known her for most of my life...ever since your
family moved to Marquette and Jen and I became friends at Fisher
School. I don't know if you know this, but your mom was the
person who got me involved at Bay Cliff. She first suggested
it to me and I was convinced she was crazy because there was
no way I could handle working with those special needs kids.
But I applied anyway (with a lot of encouragement from her)
and I got the job and I worked there for 10 summers and now
special education is not only my career, it is my passion. Bay
Cliff is a very special part of my life and I have your mom
to thank for that. And these past years your mom buddied up
with my mom....my sisters and I always referred to them as the
Catholic Widow's club. They had their own special pew at the
Cathedral and beware the individual who sat in that pew uninvited.
They come from a generation of women who had a special relationship
with their parish and the other women who attended them. They
believe in going to church and raising your children in the
church, but the husbands only attended on Christmas and Easter
and while they listened to the priests, they weren't blindly
obedient. The priest is after all, only a man. They are intelligent
and independent thinkers. And they are great role models to
their daughters. Your mom meant so much to my mom and to all
of us. She was a good friend.
Know
that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kristi, Mike and family,
We were so sorry to hear about your mom. Cy was a very special lady. I will never forget the kindness, graciousness, and dignity she showed during that happy, but stressful time. Her hospitality was genuine and heartfelt. Her love of life and people was evident in all she did, and in the strong, loving family she and your father created. Their courage and spirit will carry on in each of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. It's been many years since the high school days when we use to be at your home (or camp) waiting to pick-up Tom to go out on the town, etc. Your Mom always made me feel at home and later in life always wanted to know how everyone was if I ran into her around town. She was a very caring person.
Having just recently lost my Mom to Cancer, I have some idea of what you may be feeling. I hope that you find strength in one another and share your memories forever.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her, she sounded like an extraordinary women. I couldn't help but notice that it would have been your parent's 50th wedding anniversary this year. Surely, your parents are now joined in heaven and their legacy lives on through their children and grandchildren.

I was very sorry to read in the paper that your mother had passed away. She was a great lady. I used to work for your dad at Urology Associates as his transcriptionist and that is when and how I came to know your mother. My son was also involved in swim team from Gwinn and I remember your mom and dad at some of the swim meets when Gwinn swam against Marquette and also at UP Finals in Houghton. Please know that your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. It is always very hard to lose anyone but especially a parent. I know that this Christmas will be a difficult time as I lost my father and my father-in-law during the month of December. May God be with you and your family now and always. May you have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

A
few weeks back I had the wonderful opportunity of attending
the Symphony and sitting behind Sy. At the intermission we got
talking and in the conversation I told Sy about a 17 year old
girl who for Christmas asked for a Classical CD. A few weeks
that followed a check from Sy arrived in the mail requesting
that I purchase that CD for the girl. She was also disappointed
with us that we didn't ask her for assistance when we volunteered
to work in Mississippi this past June. So Judi Daley was going
to tell her of our return trip and we were hoping she wouldn't
be disappointed with us. Sy was a marvelous Lady who really
thought of others.
