Marquette–– Norman “Bucko”
Lemire, age 56, of 926 W. Washington Street, Marquette,
died Wednesday, December 13, 2006.
“Bucko” was born April 1, 1950, in Marquette,
and spent all of his life in the area except when serving
in the army. He served in the United States Army during
Vietnam. He worked for local construction companies and
was a member of the Local Carpenters Union for thirty years.
For the past ten years, he and his wife, Susan, have owned
and operated the Venture Motel.
He enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing with his son,
sons-in-law, grandchildren, and his cousin, Jimmy; watching
his son race four-wheelers; having paintball wars with DJ,
Cody, and Trevor; watching his grandchildren play hockey
and baseball; and was an excellent craftsman – from
building his first house to creating birdhouses, benches,
and coat racks. He also loved animals, and his dogs, Snoopy,
then Charcoal and BudShaq, who went everywhere with him.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (VanWormer) Lemire; one
son, Jason (Kristi) Lemire; two daughters, Jill (Doug) Bourdeau
and Janet (Todd) Koski, all of Marquette; three grandchildren,
Doug and Cody Bourdeau, and Trevor Koski; one sister, Sue
(Fred) Hayden of Martinsville, Indiana; a special niece,
Wendy Sue Prather of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother-in-law,
Ruth Pleaugh and her special friend, Babe Galetto; along
with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ellen;
and his father-in-law, Charles VanWormer.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Monday,
December 18, beginning at 3:00 pm. Funeral services will
follow at 6:00 pm Monday evening, in the funeral home, with
Rev. Lawrence Gauthier officiating. Burial will be made
in the Northland Chapel Gardens. Pallbearers will be Steve
Mahaffey, Jim Liljeroos, Al and Keith Lemire, John Heliin,
and Sandy VanWormer. Bucko’s grandchildren will serve
as honorary escorts.
