Harvey –Lois Ann Vasseau, 49, of
117 W. Wright Place, Harvey, entered eternal life early
Wednesday morning, December 6, 2006.
Born February 1, 1957, in Menominee, a daughter of Gerald
Louis and Geraldine June (Dionne) Tappy, Lois was raised
in the Harvey area and attended the Marquette schools. She
was employed at the former Harvey Inn as a bartender, for
a time, later moving to Denver, Colorado, where she was
employed as a cook at several retirement homes for ten years.
She returned to the Marquette area a year and half ago and,
during that time, was employed as a cook at the Crossroads,
a bartender at the Dry Dock, and as a cook at Bell Memorial
Hospital in Ishpeming. Lois had a great love of Lake Superior
and enjoyed fishing, birding, country music, cooking, camping,
and especially pheasant hunting.
Survivors include three sisters, Linda Bolton and Susan
(Frank) Shaft of Milica, MN; and Tammy (Greg) Greenleaf-Riggie
of Harvey; a brother, Bruce Wilch of Marinette, WI; several
nieces and nephews, among them, Lauralee (Dan) Clement and
Jesse Greenleaf of Harvey, Jacob (Catherine) Shaft and Erick
Shaft of Milica, MN; several aunts, uncles, great nieces
and nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are special friends,
Lee Blondeau, Cheri Cuba, Carrie Rose, Rick “Rickles”
Conners, Robin Reed, Mike Willis, and Rick Greenleaf. Lois
was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William
Vasseau.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Saturday,
December 9, beginning at 11:00 am. Funeral Services will
follow at 1:00 pm Saturday afternoon, in the funeral home,
with Rev. Ben Paris officiating. A reception for family
and friends will also be held at Wahlstrom’s Family
Restaurant in Harvey from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday. Spring
burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
