MEMORY TRIBUTE

A Memory Tribute to Carol A. Johnson

Carol and I lived 3 houses apart when we were children. We had some great times. On Saturdays we would ride our bikes to coolidge Ave., where we each had a Grandmother to see what they were baking and get treats. My Dad made a frame to fit a wagon and we covered it with an old bedspread and made it a house for our dolls. In the fall Mr. Schaefer would rake the leaves and make rows so it was like a house and we got to play dolls and have a "house for a day or two." When older we went one street back, to Cook Street, and played kick the can and hide-and-go seak with other neighborhood kids in the street. Carol and I could walk to the library and downtown to the dime store, and buy something for ten cents. Carol and Iwere raised when Barrington was a small friendly town and it was ok to go do things anywhere. A favorite treat, was if I got to go with Carol and her family to Jefferson Ice, where they had a meat locker. Jefferson Ice was the first place I ever had a popsicle. Our childhood was good! I'm glad we started writing to each other several years ago. I will think of her often.

If Carol was as wonderful as her daughter, I would have been very proud to have known her. I know she will be missed by all. Hold fast and always remember there is someone out there who loves you and doesnt even know you.

we will always remember Carol as a loving Mother and Grandmother. Much like her treasured hand-crafted gifts, she shaped her family relationships with thoughtfulness and care. We will always remember her warm smile, positive outlook, and down-to-earth manner. We will miss her very much.
