MARQUETTE - Agnes Belle (Parks) McManus, 90,
formerly of 316 Pine Street, Marquette, entered eternal life
Wednesday evening, September 20, 2006, at the Schoolcraft
Medical Care Facility in Manistique.
Agnes was born October 12, 1915 to George and Marie (Harris)
Parks in Alden, Michigan. She traveled to the Upper Peninsula
at an early age with her parents and younger brother, Charles
"Buster" Parks. The family settled in the Steuben
area, north of Manistique, where her parents established the
Parks Cabins. On October 14, 1933, she married Russell McManus
of Steuben, and the couple resided there most of their married
life. They lived for a short time in Chicago, returning to
Steuben, then moving to Manistique in 1955 where they were
living at the time of his death in 1961. Russell and Agnes
had six children, the first two dying shortly after birth.
Over the years, Agnes worked as a bus driver for the Cooks
Consolidated School, as a cook at St. Francis de Sales Catholic
School, and at Clear Lake Camp. She was also known for baking
bread, sweet rolls, and making wedding cakes.
She is survived by her son, Thomas (Mary) McManus of Marquette;
and daughters, Eileen Cowan of Houston, TX, Theresa Neville
of Manistique, and Anna Marie (Ted) Schuster of Troy; her
grandchildren, Cynthia DuBois of Louisiana, Lisa (John Stansbury)
Cowan of Austin, TX, Patrick (Tashia) Cowan of El Mirage,
AZ, Steven Neville of Kimberly, WI, Alicia Neville of Big
Rapids, Scott Neville of Mesa, AZ, Beth (Frank) Hartgers of
Rochester Hills, Michael (Tricia) Schuster of Rochester Hills,
and the family of Tom and Mary McManus: Zachary McManus, Bridgid
Dougan, Cormac Dougan, and Meara McManus all of Marquette;
and ten great-grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by
her parents; husband; children, Dawn Marie and Jimmy Duane,
her brother, Charles; and a grandson, Robert Vadnais.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later
date.
The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family.
