Lilian Scott Gill

CHATHAM – Lilian Scott Gill, 57, of N5246 Gladstone Street, Chatham, entered eternal life Thursday evening, September 21, 2006, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, following a lengthy illness. Lilian had been hospitalized in Ann Arbor for the past two weeks.

Lilian was born January 6, 1949 in Scotland, a daughter of Joseph and Lilian (Scott) Thompson, and was raised in Port Glasgow, Scotland, where she graduated from high school. In 1978, she met Elmer Gill in Scotland while he was serving with the US military, and, in 1979, the couple was married in Howard City, Michigan. The couple resided at several places in Michigan, moving to Chatham in 2003. A homemaker, Lilian enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and bowling.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer; two sisters, Margaret Reynolds of England and Agnes Harley of Scotland; a brother, Richard (Nettie) Thompson of Scotland; and several nieces and nephews. Lilian was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Stewart Thompson.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm and on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 29, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Alan McCall officiating.

Inurnment will be made in Scotland.
