Alfred J. “Al” Tousignant, Sr., 90, formerly of 119 Little Lake Road, Harvey, entered eternal life Sunday evening, July 9, 2006, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.

Born October 18, 1915 in Marquette, a son of Fred and Matilda (Dupras) Tousignant, Al was raised in Marquette and Munising.  On September 24, 1935 he married Lucille Santamore in Marquette.  Al was employed throughout his lifetime with the former Bancroft Dairy, Schneider Saw Mill, and Munising Wood Products.  He was employed as a crane operator and foreman at Green's Salvage in Marquette for 23 years and then with Worchawski Brother's Salvage in Ishpeming for 20 years, retiring in 1962.  In 1970, he and his wife moved to Lake Linden, returning to the Marquette area in 1975.  Al enjoyed his family, going on fishing excursions with his wife, gardening, and going to the casino.

Survivors include two daughters, Marion (Wayne) Edmonds of Benson, AZ and Shirley (Phillip) DePetro of Marquette; two sons, Alfred J. "Al" (Joy) Tousignant, Jr of Marquette and Arthur (Karen) Tousignant of L'Anse; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Al was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille Tousignant; his sisters, Albina Diehl, Mabel Turenne, Argene Harris, Beatrice Smith, Mae Henning, and Evelina Pendeck; and two brothers, Arthur and Raymond Tousignant.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12, beginning at 11:00 am.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:30 pm Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital chaplain, officiating.  Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.  Al’s grandchildren will serve as his escorts.  A reception for family and friends will follow in the fellowship hall at St. Christopher Catholic Church.
