Philip Pezzuto

Philip Florie Pezzuto, 74, of 308 South Lake Street, Ishpeming, passed away Friday afternoon, July 14, 2006, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Born May 9, 1932 in Chicago, the son of Florie and Philomena (Colachia) Pezzuto, Philip was raised in Chicago and graduated from high school there.  In 1952, Philip married Madeline Anne Doucette of Hubbell.  Philip then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.  Following the war, Philip returned to Chicago where he worked as a machinist for the Verson Press Company for 42 years.  In 1997, he retired to Ishpeming and has spent the last year in the Jacobetti Home for Veterans following a stroke.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Madeline Pezzuto of Marquette; three daughters, Maria (Anson) Holt and Gina (Paul) Vonk both of Holland, and Margaret (Homer) Cobb of Marquette; three sons, Phillip Pezzuto and James (Theresa) Pezzuto both of Ishpeming, and Robert Pezzuto of Michigamme;  numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tony Damatteo of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.  Philip was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Damatteo.

Graveside memorial services will be set by the family for a later date and will be announced.
