Kevin Scott Latvala, age 43, of Munising, Died Friday July 7, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Kevin was born July 2, 1963 in Munising to Walfred and Ruth Latvala. He attended Washington and Lincoln elementary schools, graduating from Munising High School in 1981. On April 25, 1987 he married Holly Kravitz. They moved to Woodbridge Va. In 1991 and was caretaker of Rippon Lodge which is a nationally registered historic estate and is the oldest continually lived in estate in the United States. Kevin and Holly moved back home to Munising where their son Caleb was born in 1994.
 
Kevin refurbished old homes while in Virginia and also Grand Island. He enjoyed this work greatly; many people he worked for praised the level of detail he always provided in his work. Another of his passions was music. Kevin was a skilled guitar player. He enjoyed the woods and was an avid mushroom hunter.
  
Kevin is survived by the joys of his life, Holly, his wife of 19 years and son Caleb, age 12. His Mother Ruth Fitzgerald, sisters, Alice Clemons and Kathy (Jim) Barrow, brothers, Ron (Judy) Latvala and David (Connie) Latvala all of Munising, Ken Latvala and Brian (Nancy) Latvala both of Virginia. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews will also miss him. Kevin was preceded in death by his father Walfred and brother Robert.  A graveside memorial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising at a later date.
