Robert E. Bowman, 47, of 9360 County Road 510, Ishpeming Township, entered eternal life Sunday evening, July 30, at the home of his brother.
Bob was born October 5, 1958 in Royal Oak, a son of Orlin Earl and Florence G. (Jarrett) Bowman, Jr., and was raised in Madison Heights. He was a 1976 graduate of Lamphere High School and later attended college for a year. On March 23, 1984 he married Marjorie T. Romas and in September the couple moved to the Upper Peninsula, residing in Ishpeming Township. Bob was self-employed, skilled in the trades, and worked for a time at the Huron Mountain Club in Big Bay. With his artistic eye and very mechanical inclinations, he later worked in construction, did auto mechanical work, and enjoyed restoring and refinishing woodworking projects. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed all that nature had to offer, especially around County Road 510. He was a hunter, fisherman, and always looked forward to spring, when he would manufacture maple syrup from his sugarbush. Many years ago, Bob had embraced the Native American customs, culture, and spirituality. He was always eager to learn from what Mother Earth had to offer.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Nicole (Vincent) Maki of Ishpeming and Athena (Al) Rehn of Gwinn; his grandchildren, Kiana and Vincent Maki, and Bobbi Mae Bowman; his brother, Orlin E. (Denise) Bowman of Marquette; his mother-in-law, Janet Romas of Alpena; sister-in-law, Doris (Ralph) Schmitz of Clinton Township; brother-in-law, Richard Romas, Jr of Alpena; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm for a time of sharing memories of Bob.
