Russell Voce, 83, of 488 Mangum Road, Beaver Grove, entered eternal life Wednesday morning, June 21, 2006, at his home, in the care of his loving wife and the caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice.
Russell was born July 14, 1922 in Chocolay Township, a son of James and Rosanna (Houle) Voce, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for thirty years and then was employed at Marquette General Hospital in maintenance for eleven years, prior to his retirement.
Russell and wife, Rose, enjoyed working in their fruit orchards and vegetable gardens and generously gave to the community from those ventures.
Russell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Rose (Ogea) Voce, whom he married January 16, 1943; a sister, Ella Belmore of Marquette; two nephews, Harlan (Carol) Belmore of Marquette and James (Sandra) Belmore of Battle Creek; and a niece, Grace (Aike) Niehof of Puryear, TN. Russell was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring Russell’s request, a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UP Home Health and Hospice, 1414 W. Fair Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.
Special appreciation is extended to the caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice, volunteer, Dottie Thomas; and to the many friends and neighbors for the kindnesses extended to Russell and Rose during his illness.
