Jennie E. (McCarthy) Robare, 101, formerly of 222 South Fifth Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Wednesday evening, May 10, 2006, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, in the loving care of her family. 

Jennie was born May 19, 1904 in National Mine, a daughter of John D. and Jennie (Lucks) McCarthy, was raised in National Mine, and attended the local schools.  On September 17, 1938 she married Peter M. Robare and, soon after, the couple moved to Marquette.  Jennie was employed for over 49 years as a label maker in the cutting room of the H.W. Gossard Company, retiring in 1969.  She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral.

Jennie was a very caring and loving aunt to all her family.   

Survivors include her nephews, Donald (Mae) McCarthy of Ishpeming and George (Margaret) Bourdage of Peoria, AZ; her nieces, Donna Skogman and Margaret McCarthy of Ishpeming, Ruth Ann (Bud) Ritenour, Marie Vadnais, and Bernice Pfaffle of Marquette; her extended family, Mary Lou Bourdage Crothers and Donna Bourdage Anderson of Marquette; and many great nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter in 1985; three sisters, Angela Wickert, Marie Niemi, and Stella Bourdage; and two brothers, Harold and James McCarthy.

Friends may call at the Bishop’s Room at St. Peter Cathedral on Saturday, May 13, beginning at 9:00 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday morning with Rev. Msgr. Louis Cappo, rector, as celebrant.  A reception for family and friends will follow in Cathedral Hall.  Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to the staff and residents of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their compassionate care of Jennie and her family.  Your kindness and concern greatly enhanced the quality of her life.
