Tom and Travis, Roberta and Rhonda, Maureen was one of the very special people I have met in my life. Right from the start we had a way of communicating that was her way of being interesting an fun. She was smart and fiesty, and I appreciated her humor every time we spoke. Even if she wasn't feeling well, she would still "pull my chain" just a little. I will miss her greatly as I am sure you all will, too. If there is anything, anything that Diane or I can do or help, please call us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Maureen is a part of many of my childhood memories and I'd like to share a few.
Our neighborhood had about twenty children that all played together. On hot summer days, the neighborhood moms would take us to Sharis Park for an entire day of swimming and sunbathing. Maureen was a very good swimmer and spent many hours diving off the diving board doing flips, perfect dives, and a bellyflop or two. When we needed energy, Maureen and I would walk to the food hut and buy Fudgecicles and frozen Milky Way bars. Even before we got back to the pool we would have melted chocolate dripping down our arms and swimsuits, yet we did not mind, we were young and life was good.
Maureen and I struggled though our preteens together. Back then it was all about learning how to apply face makeup, grappling with fashion trends, color coordinating outfits and reading Teen Magazine.
And then there was the Rock and Roll music. Maureen had the best record collection in the neighborhood (remember 45 rpm and vinyl albums?). Every week she would purchase the most recent number one hit and add it to her collection. We spent hours learning the lyrics of all rock and roll songs and the names of rock groups. I think the neighbors learned the lyrics too because we always had that stereo blaring.
Maureen was a very striking woman. One time she mailed a picture of herself to her new British pen pal and his response was that the woman in the photo was too beautiful and would not believe it was she. We sent a group picture to her pen pal to confirm she was the fairest of us all.
I visited with Maureen about three weeks ago, to say our good byes. She was the same person I had always known- fun loving and enjoying every moment. She shared many memories I had forgotten about and we had some good laughs. Maureen will always be in my heart.
Maureen is now with the Lord Jesus Christ, and as a Believer, I find comfort knowing that I will see her again someday.
See you later, Maureen.
In God's Grip,
