Eleanor C. Landberg, 98, formerly of 580 Cox Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Friday morning, April 28, 2006, at the Norlite Nursing Center, where she had resided since September of 2004.
Born March 8, 1908 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of Walter G. and Maude V. (Pritchard) Peters, Eleanor moved with her family to Marquette at age 5, and had been a lifelong area resident. In 1927, Eleanor married James Y. Landberg in Marquette and the couple set about establishing their home and raising a family. Eleanor enjoyed her role as homemaker and was known for her excellent cooking skills and sewing abilities, often designing and making many of her own clothes. An avid BINGO participant, she enjoyed traveling with friends to various BINGO events. Eleanor was greatly loved by all, and admired for her spunk and spirit.
A loving mother, proud grandparent, and sister, she is survived by her daughters, Virginia Davis and Bonnie (Richard) Meyers both of Marquette; her grandchildren, James (Lynette) Davis, Susan (John) Leutheuser, Marjorie (James) Beaudry, Rick Meyers, and Robert (Jill) Meyers; nine great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Bradley, Michael, Nicole, Megan, Mathew, Shannon, and Tony; six great great-grandchildren, Travis, Chloe, Justis, Tyler, Preston, and Taylor; grand daughters-in-law, Judy Meyers and Sheri Meyers; two sisters, Virginia (John) Martin of Marquette and Elsie Kevern of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, James; and a brother, Walter Peters.
Honoring Eleanor’s request, private family services will be held at the Fassbender Funeral Home. Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.
