Gerald Robinson

Gerald D. Robinson, 79, of 530 Lost Creek Drive, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2006, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

He was born October 30, 1926 in Marquette, a son of the late Dudley and Emma (Stuer) Robinson, was raised in Marquette, attended St. Peter’s Grade School and later Graveraet High School. Gerald was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy from 1944-1946. On October 4, 1947 he married the former Dorothy Mae Chartrand in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Munising, and soon after the couple moved to Marquette. Gerald was employed as a painter at the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base for several years, later moving to Kenosha, WI where he resided for 20 years. While in Kenosha, he worked for the J. I. Case Company in Racine, WI for 15 years, retiring in 1988. The couple then moved back to the Marquette area. Gerald also served in the Wisconsin National Guard for 8 years, and 15 years locally with the 107th Engineer Battalion of the Michigan National Guard through the Marquette and Ishpeming Armories, retiring in 1986 after 23 years combined service.
Gerald was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, Richard Jopling Post #44 of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Kenosha VFW. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, traveling, and oil painting.

A devoted husband, father, proud grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Robinson

Five daughters: Cynthia (Gary) Adamczyk of Kenosha, WI; Geraldine (Leonard) Grimes of AZ; and Bonita (Thomas) Havican; Michelle (Theodore) Halvorsen; and Emmy Lou (Kenneth) Swisher all of Kenosha, WI

Two sons: Gerald “Rob” (Toni) Robinson of Marquette and Randolph (Patricia) Robinson of Kenosha, WI

Grandchildren: Dominic (Linda) Cizauskas, Kimberly (Darren) Stezala, Tonia Harvala, Troy (Trisha) Smith, Tiffany (Jerald) Cramer, Katie (Scott) Salminen, Jill Robinson, Lisa (Ben) Walker, Erin Havican, Eric (Sara) Havican, Travis Halvorsen, Taysha (Ryan) Walter, Cherie (Greg) Lee, Gerald Robinson, Kenny (Crystal) Swisher II, Katelyn Swisher, and Whitney Swisher;

Twenty great-grandchildren: a sister, Alice Jean (Edward) St. Aubin of Gwinn

Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a brother, Earl J. Martin, Sr.

Friends may call at the Bishop’s Room at St. Peter Cathedral on Tuesday, January 24, beginning at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm Tuesday in the cathedral with Rev. Msgr. Louis Cappo, rector, as celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow in Cathedral Hall. Burial will be made in the Northland Chapel Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Havican, Cam Martin, Dominic Cizauskas, Troy Smith, Travis Halvorsen, Eric Havican, Jill Robinson, Kenneth Swisher and Gregg Maki.
