Tyne M. LaCosse, 91, formerly of 420 Albert Street, Marquette, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Norlite Nursing Center, where she had resided since 1999.
Tyne was born September 16, 1914, in Marquette, to Ida (Karna) and Adam Eskelinen. She received her certificate of proficiency from the commercial department of Bishop Baraga High School in 1932, and was employed by the Huron Mountain Club, the Lake Shore Engineering Company, the Marquette Pharmacy, and the Newman Center at St. Michael Church. She and her husband, Leon, were married on June 26, 1937. She enjoyed reading, following politics at all levels, especially the city commission meetings, and was a very active and avid member of St. Michael Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Leon in 1977; son-in-law, Donald McInnis; and her two brothers; George and Arvo.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol McInnis of Escanaba; sons, Robert (Leslee) LaCosse of Farmington Hills, Thomas (Liz) LaCosse of St. George, UT, and John (Tanya) LaCosse of West Linn, OR: grandchildren, Sue McInnis, Mary (Dave) Meyer, Anne McInnis, Amy (Joel) Norkus, Mike LaCosse, Erin (Kevin) Main, and Kelly (Jeff) Waterstredt, great-grandchildren, Cullan and Duncan Meyer, Lilli Norkus, and Grace Main; a sister, Pearl Piirto of Ishpeming; sister-in-law, Celeste Kyto and brother-in-law, Norbert LaCosse both of Marquette; eight nephews and seven nieces.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm where a parish prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday morning, January 21, in St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Jed Patrick, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
