Betty Jane Daugherty, 80, of 1420 Erie Avenue, Marquette, formerly of 319 Genesee Street, entered eternal life Wednesday afternoon, January 11, 2006, at the Norlite Nursing Center. Due to ill health, Betty had lived with her daughter, and then her son, over the last six years, before entering Norlite in November.

Betty was born April 2, 1925 in Marquette, a daughter of Peter A. and Clara Rose (L’Huillier) Holm Sr, and was a lifelong Marquette resident. She attended the Howard Junior High and later worked at a variety of jobs in the community. A devoted wife and mother, she took pleasure in being a homemaker, caring for her family, and especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren. In her leisure, Betty enjoyed sewing quilts for family and friends, cooking, playing cribbage, going to the casino, and going to her son’s baseball games. She was known for her famous baked beans, which she often baked for family events and shared with friends. Betty was a member of St. Peter Cathedral.
