Lucille A. Okesson, 87, of 324 Cedar Street, Ishpeming, and formerly of 627 Willow Road, Harvey, entered eternal life Friday morning, December 2, 2005, in the comforting care of her family and the caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice. Lucille had resided with her son, Terry and his family, in Ishpeming, for the past year.
Lucille was born March 1, 1918 in Marquette, a daughter of Francis X. and Exilda Ann (Au-Dette) Dollar. She attended the Marquette schools, receiving her GED through the Adult Education Program offered through the Graveraet High School. Lucille was employed in the Dietary Department at the former St. Mary’s Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1970. Following retirement, she worked at Sears for a time and later was employed as a cook at Norlite Nursing Center and the Marquette Men’s Club.
Lucille’s family always came first, and her other hobbies and interests included playing cards, especially cribbage; craftwork, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and flower gardening. She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral.
A loving mother, proud grandparent, sister, and aunt, she is survived by: a daughter, Lynn Ann (Joseph) Dupras of Harvey; two sons, Russell Swenor of Harvey and Terrance (Norma Jean) Swenor of Ishpeming; a step-daughter, Jennifer (Donald) Bennon of Champion; step-sons, John (Diane) Okesson of Boynton Beach, FL and James Okesson of Little Lake; her grandchildren, Mark (Kris) Swenor, Vincent Swenor, Eric (Karen) Swenor, Valerie Swenor, Stephanie Isip, Henry (Peggy) Swenor, Tracy (Dan) Gillen, Colette Swenor, Jonathan Dupras, Alex Dupras, and Josh Howard; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Genevieve Hutter of Columbia, SC; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sharon Baggett of Harvey. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husbands, John E. Okesson in 1995 and Frank J. Bobroski in 1970; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Swenor; three sisters, Madeline Tingler, Ruth Swenor, and Rita Mae Dollar; and five brothers, David, Robert, Owen, Francis, and Howard Dollar.
Friends may call at the Bishop’s Room at St. Peter Cathedral on Tuesday, December 6, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the cathedral at 1:00 pm Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Msgr. Louis Cappo, rector, as celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow in Cathedral Hall. Entombment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
