Leona M. Sarasien, 79, of 1831 Fitch Avenue, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday morning, October 8, 2005, at her home, in the comforting care of her family and the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Born November 23, 1925 in Negaunee, a daughter of Albert and Julia (Senical) Dugas, Leona was a lifelong resident and a 1943 graduate of the Graveraet High School. In 1952, she married Richard E. Sarasien at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. For over ten years Leona was employed with the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railroad as a secretary and later, for two years, with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 414 in the same capacity. Leona was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Peter Cathedral. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and paint by numbers.

Her son, Rick (Fiancée, Cindy) Sarasien of Marquette
Her sister, Jeanette Gingras of Marquette
Sister-in-law, Lorraine (Mel) Syria of Marquette
Several nieces and nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mae Martin and Lucille Dugas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 11, at 11:00 am with Rev. Lawrence Gauther as celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
