Charles H. “Bud” Marvin, 94, of 243 Lakewood Lane, Harvey, entered eternal life Friday, September 9, 2005, at his home.
Born April 15, 1911 in Marquette, the son of Frank and Minnie M. (Crowley) Marvin, Bud was raised in Marquette and moved with his family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin while in high school. He graduated from the West Division High School in Milwaukee and later was employed as a painter prior to entering military service. Bud served in the US Army during World War II with the 864th Bomb Squadron and was involved in the battles and campaigns of Luzon Western Pacific, Ryukyus, the air offensive of Japan, the Eastern Mandates, and the liberation of Southern Philippines. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, American Theater Ribbon, and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military service, Bud moved to Three Lakes, Wisconsin, with his father, and worked as a master plumber for many years. In 1965, Bud moved back to the Marquette area and was employed with Northern Stationers prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey.
Bud loved the outdoors and greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include:
Niece, Lynn L. (Thomas) Bright of Kalamazoo, and their children, Travis J. and Katherine Bright.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Tice and Mary Genevieve Baggs.
Graveside services will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery on Tuesday, September 13, at 10:00 am with Rev. Ben Paris officiating.
