Rudolph Walin

Died July 23, 2005

Rudolph M. “Mike” Walin, 73, of 521 W. Bluff Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2005, at his home, in the comforting care of his family. He had been in ill health for several years.

Mike was born April 23, 1932 in Marquette, a son of Rudolph R. and Doris A. (Carlson) Walin, and was a lifelong Marquette resident. He was a 1951 graduate of the Graveraet High School and, following graduation, entered the US Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict. On April 11, 1953 he married Rosemary Swenor. Mike was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1956 and went to work in his father’s electric shop, Walin’s Electric. He later was employed with the City of Marquette as plant operator at the Water Treatment Plant for eleven years. He then worked for a time in the housekeeping department at Marquette General Hospital. In his leisure time he greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Mike was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he and his brother served as altar boys in their youth.

His wife of 52 years, Rosemary

Two daughters, Susan (Ed) Molise of Marinette, WI, and Lisa (Steve) Morgan of Plymouth, WI

Three sons, Michael (Kaye) Walin of Sheboygan, WI, and Tim and Greg Walin of Marquette

His grandchildren, Michael James (Debbie) Walin, Kevin Joe Walin, Tina Swanson, Susan Smith, Paige Morgan, Jadenne Walin, and one, soon to be expected, grandchild

Step-grandson, Anthony Walin

Great-grandchildren, Kyle Winters, Kaylee Washburn, Samantha Washburn, Stephanie Smith, Michael Smith, and Justin Walin

His brother, Carl (Rachel) Walin of Harvey

Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday, July 29, beginning at 12:00 noon. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon with Rev. Lawrence Gauthier officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at the family home, 521 W. Bluff Street, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Daniel Hardie, the staff of UP Home Health and Hospice, and the staff at the Jacobetti Outpatient Clinic for the many kindnesses extended to Mike and his family during his illness.
