Rosina Yshinski

Rosina P. “Rose” Yshinski, 94, formerly of 1032 Pine Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Monday, June 6, 2005, at Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home in Hubbell.

Born November 13, 1910 in Pine City, MN, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Bogenschutz) Blass, Rose was raised in Boscobel, WI, and graduated from high school there. She later attended cosmetology school in Iron Mountain, receiving her license. She moved to Marquette in the mid 1930’s to assist her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Fritz Zweifel, in the operation of their two Piggly Wiggly Grocery Stores, which were located on Washington Street and on Third Street. In her leisure moments, Rose loved working in her garden, growing and arranging flowers. She enjoyed the beauty of her yard. She also was involved in arts and crafts, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and especially spending time with her family at camp.

Rose was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

A loving sister and aunt, Rose is survived by her sister, Antoinette Goad of Marquette; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Yshinski in 1984; and by sisters, Ann E. Kaney, Mary Bushausen, Margaret Blass, and Helen Zweifel; and brothers, Armin G, John F, and Johnny Blass; and brothers-in-law, Dale Goad, John Kaney, Frank Bushausen, and Fritz Zweifel.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9, beginning at 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 pm Thursday evening with Rev. Msgr. Jed Patrick, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
