Marilyn Ann “Maryl” Covert, 74, of 856 Lakewood Lane, Harvey, entered eternal life Monday morning, June 27, 2005, at her home, following an extended illness, in the comforting care of her family and the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Born May 23, 1931 in Lansing, a daughter of Joseph M. and Beatrice M. (Gordon) Rose, Marilyn was raised in Lansing and was a 1949 graduate of the J.W. Sexton High School. She worked for the State of Michigan for a brief time before marrying Roger H. Covert on October 14, 1949. Roger was serving with the US Army in Japan and, during their married life, the couple resided at various duty assignments around the country and overseas. In 1962 the couple moved to the Marquette area where Marilyn was employed with Marquette General Hospital as a transcriptionist in medical records for ten years prior to retiring in 1988. She returned to her role as homemaker, enjoying sewing, cross-stitching, gardening, knitting, and reading. In their leisure, Roger and Marilyn engaged in motorcycle trips around the country.

Her son, Joseph H. (Carnie) Covert of Northport
Grandchildren, Donnie, Dustin, Jason, Jesse, Crystal, Christopher, and Joey
Great-grandchildren, Nathan and Tristin
Two sisters, Mary Jo (Chad) Vickery of Grand Ledge and Barbara Saunto of Lansing
Her sister-in-law, Betty Campbell of Port Huron
Several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roger James Covert in 1960; a brother, Robert Campbell; and a brother-in-law, Abraham Saunto.
Honoring Marilyn’s request, no services will be scheduled. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Lake Superior Hospice Association, 326 N. Front Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
