Joseph Kordish

Joseph L. Kordish, 82, of 425 Fisher Street, Marquette, and former Munising resident, entered eternal life Monday evening, May 9, 2005, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, where he had resided since 1997. 

Joe was born June 14, 1922 in Munising, a son of Andrew and Gertrude (Maurin) Kordish and was raised in Munising.  He graduated from the William G. Mather High School and, the following day, entered the US Navy.  Joe was honorably discharged in 1945 and began employment with Kimberly Clark, working as a coater operator for many years.  He later performed a variety of odd jobs in the area.  Throughout the years, Joe had an avid interest in photography, having studied in Ann Arbor.  He not only took photographs, but processed them as well.

Survivors include his sister, Sophie Passinault of Munising; a sister-in-law, Mary Kordish of Christmas; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Laurich; and brothers, Louis, Frank, Victor, John, and Vincent Kordish.

In keeping with Joe’s request, no services will be held.  Inurnment will be made in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Munising.  The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family.
