Beth Marie Main-Davis, 50, of 14 South Fork Road, Harvey, entered eternal life Tuesday evening, April 5, 2005, at her home, in the comforting care of her family and the caregivers of Lake Superior Hospice.
Born December 16, 1954 in Detroit, a daughter of Robert and Joy (Franjac) Main, Beth was raised in Livonia, and was a 1973 graduate of the Stevenson High School in Livonia. In 1974 she moved to the Harvey area. Beth then enrolled at Northern Michigan University and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work. Beth was instrumental in coordinating the Voices for Youth Program, an organization that helps at-risk teenagers. Later, Beth joined the staff of Lutheran Social Services where she served as director of Upper Michigan programs. Beth loved life and enjoyed being with her friends. Celebrating “over the hump day,” Beth and her girlfriends would get together every Wednesday to unwind and eagerly anticipate the approaching weekend. Such gatherings were a source of fun, refreshment, and were needed to “recharge.” In her leisure time, Beth enjoyed gardening, dancing, and home decoration. She was especially athletic and had been a member of a synchronized swim team while in high school. The love of the water remained with her always. Beth’s musical talent was given expression while she was a member of the former Byrdz Cage Blues Band, where she played bass guitar. Beth was a member of the Gladstone Yacht Club and the Richard Jopling Post #44 American Legion Auxiliary.
A loving wife, devoted mother, daughter, and sister, she is survived by her husband, Darrian M. Davis, whom she married April 30, 1994 in Marquette; daughter, Amy Marie Yatchak; son, Steven Richard Yatchak both of Marquette; her mother, Joy Bohlinger of Livonia; father, Robert (Belinda) Main of Taylor; a sister, Joyann Attard of White Lake; three brothers, Robert (Laura) Main of Leonard, Steven Main of Byron, and Donald Bohlinger of Plymouth; mother-in-law, Luella Davis of Marquette; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Beth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Albertson; and father-in-law, Neil Davis.
Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey on Friday, April 8, beginning at 4:00 pm to share memories and celebrate Beth’s life. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:00 pm Friday evening with Rev. Ben Paris, pastor, as celebrant. Family members will serve as escorts.
Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Voices for Youth, Lake Superior Hospice Association, or the Ishpeming Cancer Society.
