Agnes C. Staricka

Died March 12, 2005

Agnes C. Staricka, 89, formerly of 201 Cherry Creek Village, Harvey, entered eternal life Saturday afternoon, March 12, 2005, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, where she had resided since November of 2004.  She was surrounded in the comforting care of her loving family and the caregivers of the facility and Lake Superior Hospice. 

Born December 9, 1915 in Marquette, a daughter of John A. and Agnes (Imerson) Coleman, Agnes was a lifelong Marquette resident.  She held many jobs throughout the years, but was employed several years as a nurse’s aide at both the former St. Mary’s and St. Luke’s Hospitals.  Agnes was a former member of the Pine Ridge Apartments Progress Club and, for many years, enjoyed playing in the Senior Citizen’s Cribbage League.  She also enjoyed being a BINGO participant and watching the Gaither Family Gospel Hour on television.  Agnes attended the Faith Assembly of God in Harvey with her daughter.

A loving mother and devoted grandparent, she is survived by two daughters, Agnes “Snooks” Murphy of Harvey and Beverly Hammerand of Grass Valley, CA; her grandchildren, Steve Keller, Michael Keller, Michelle (Ken) Brewer, Jeff Hammerand, Terri (William) Wills, Jean (Rick) Shaw, Beth (Daniel) Virta, Casey (Mark) Murphy, Laurie (Fred) Beauchamp; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, including the newest addition, Azlyn Anne Wills, who recently completed the family’s 5th generation; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Staricka on April 10, 1992; grandson, Michael Murphy; a sister, Catherine “Peg” LaRue; and brothers, John, George, and Louis Coleman.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15, beginning at 4:00 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening in the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Taylor, pastor of the Faith Assembly of God, officiating.  Entombment will be made in the Northland Chapel Gardens Mausoleum.  Honorary escorts will be Bill and B.J. Wills, Rick Shaw, Dan Virta, Jim LaRue, T.J. and Mark Murphy, and Fred Beauchamp.
