Paul Poole

Paul W. Poole, 67, of 405 Liberator Street, Gwinn, entered eternal life Sunday evening, March 13, 2005, at Marquette General Hospital, where he had been admitted earlier in the day.

Paul was born October 26, 1937 in Georgetown, Massachusetts, a son of Harold and Olive (Rogers) Poole, and was raised in Fremont, New Hampshire.  He received his high school diploma from the Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, New Hampshire, and soon after entered the US Air Force.  Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Marquette and was employed with Euclid Heavy Equipment Company in Ishpeming as a mechanic.  He later worked for Lakeshore, Inc in Negaunee for 19 years.  Paul then moved back to New Hampshire for 12 years and worked for C.W. Equipment.  While in New Hampshire he owned and operated Paul and Art’s Equipment and Repair.  In 1989 he moved back to Marquette and was employed with Wickes Lumber until his retirement in 1999.

Paul was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed following the victories of his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.  He also enjoyed fishing, camping, being a Packer backer, and caring for his canine and feline companions, Corky and Tom.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Lorraine J. (Durand) Garrow, whom he married October 6, 1973 at the Harvey Baptist Church; two step-daughters, Pauline (Jerry) Kivi of Harvey and Brenda (Arthur) Melanson of Gwinn; seven step-sons, Richard (Kaye) Garrow, Clyde (Peggy) Garrow, and Charles (Jane) Garrow all of Harvey, Allen (Kathy) Garrow of Gwinn, Lyle (Donna) Garrow of Epping, NH, and David Garrow and Peter (Jennifer) Garrow both of Manchester, NH; six daughters, Sherri Poole, Kathy (Jerrold) Cox, and Linda Poole of Marquette, Susan (Rodney) Gregory of Washington, DC, Tracy (Patrick) Norquist of Harvey, and Tammy Poole of Dunstan; 29 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clayton (Joann) Poole of Concord, NH and his twin brother, Pete (Sue) Poole of Exeter, NH; a sister, Betty (Lloyd) Metiver of Fremont, NH; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a step-son, Mark Garrow; step-granddaughter, Stacy Garrow; step-great grandson, Jacob Houle; and a brother, Richard Poole.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening in the funeral home with Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital Chaplain, officiating.  Burial will be made in the Sands Township Cemetery in the spring.  Honorary escorts will be Richard, Jason, Billy, and Deanna Garrow, Kerry Bradley, and Kristi Houle.
