Frances O. “Fran” Abbott, 86, formerly of 429 East Crescent Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Thursday evening, March 3, 2005, at the Norlite Nursing Center where she had resided for the past two years.
Fran was born March 16, 1918 in Negaunee, a daughter of Peter Charles and Hilda E. (Lundgren) Peterson, was raised in Negaunee, and moved to Marquette in 1936. She later relocated to Lower Michigan, residing there for 32 years, moving back to Marquette following her husband’s retirement. A homemaker, Fran loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and the Richard Jopling American Legion Post #44 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Jean Anderson; a son, Gerald L. (Judith) Anderson, both of Marquette; a sister, Marion Biang of Harvey; two brothers, Donald (Diana) Peterson and Robert “Red” (Loretta) Peterson both of Marquette; brother-in-law, Raymond Buchkoe of Marquette; special friend, Virginia Somerville of Beaver Grove; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husbands, Luthrop Anderson and Larry Bruce Abbott; and a sister, Dorothy Buchkoe.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Sunday, March 6, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Amacher officiating. Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.
